If you don’t mind managing your electricity use, you could shift your use and save all year long with the Smart Hours rate. Take advantage of a lower off-peak rate by shifting your electricity use away from peak hours:
- June - September: Weekdays, from 2 to 7 p.m. when electricity will cost about five cents more per kilowatt hour, compared to off-peak times.
- October - May: Weekdays, from 2 to 7 p.m. when electricity will cost about one cent more per kilowatt hour, compared to off-peak times.
Rate Code on Your Bill: 1040
If you were formerly on our Time of Use Rate (Rate Code RT1010 on your bill), here’s what changed:
Beginning in June 2020, we replaced your current Time of Use Rate (1010 on your bill) with the new Smart Hours Rate (1040 on your bill). There is nothing you need to do on your end. Just like the rate you are used to, the new rate encourages you to take advantage of lower-cost electricity available at certain times of day to help lower your bill.
