Corporate Giving

Consumers Energy builds strong Michigan communities by supporting local nonprofit organizations, events and programs.

  • Our annual United Way campaign helps support education programs that span from cradle to career.
  • Our United Way donations also support financial stability programs including credit counseling and money management programs.
  • Money raised in our corporate United Way campaign funds mentor programs to help kids stay in school and succeed.
  • The Consumers Energy United Way campaign supports high-quality after-school programs for children and youth to help them succeed socially, intellectually and physically.

Help When People Need it Most

In addition to providing grants to nonprofit organizations through the Consumers Energy Foundation, we also support nonprofit groups and communities. We mobilize employee volunteers and sponsor regional community events including the CRIM Festival of Races, the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City, AuSable River Canoe Marathon, the Saginaw Light Up the City crime prevention program, the ArtPrize SmartArt competition in Grand Rapids and the Michigan Centennial Farm Program. Since 2010, we have provided more than $56 million to Michigan nonprofits to help customers in need pay their energy bills.
If you are facing hardship with energy bills or other needs,
please call 2-1-1 to be connected to resources in your community.

We Keep Nonprofits in Mind, by Donating In-Kind

When we upgrade our equipment and office furniture, we donate our used equipment to nonprofits, providing additional resources to run their organizations. These hand-me-downs are a leg up for schools and charities that run on tight budgets. Instead of using funds on PCs, printers or office furniture, they can spend it helping more people.

Nonprofits interested in submitting a request for in-kind support from Consumers Energy may send an email to foundation@cmsenergy.com
