Restoration Work in Progress

We’re continuing to restore power in the hardest hit areas of ice-covered Northern Michigan. Trees, roads, power lines, and service trucks were coated with as much as an inch of ice.

How We Prioritize Restoring Power

  • Public safety is our top priority.

  • Community services such as hospitals, fire and police stations are often restored first.

  • Communication is Key: TV and radio are prioritized for emergency communications.

Keeping Safe During Storms

If you see a downed wire, please stay at least 25 feet away from it, and anything it is touching. Once you're safe, call 911. Then call us at 800-477-5050.

Don’t play with fire. Skip the candles: don’t use candles during a storm, as they can be a major fire hazard.

Never use a generator in an attached garage, basement, enclosed patio or near air intakes. Doing so could result in hazardous levels of carbon monoxide.
