The Consumers Energy Foundation is dedicated to ensuring Michigan has world-class natural resources by funding programs and organizations that strengthen environmental stewardship, preserve the natural beauty of Michigan and reduce environmental impact when natural resources are used.
Land
The Consumers Energy Foundation supports nonprofit agencies that aim to protect, preserve and restore land in Michigan.
Recent grant recipients include Land Conservancy of West Michigan to acquire an old golf course, transform it into green space, and restore native habitat, and North Oakland Headwaters Land Conservancy to restore and protect the natural habitat of the Poweshiek skipperling butterfly.
Water
Our freshwater and lakes demand great care. Therefore, we support nonprofit agencies seeking to preserve and improve water quality in our Great Lakes, and our freshwater bodies that flow into them.
We’re proud of our contributions to care for Michigan’s waterways, including recent grants to the Friends of the Shiawassee River stream monitoring program, and the Michigan United Conservation Clubs On the Water program.
Air
We support nonprofit organizations seeking to reduce carbon in Michigan’s air, and improve air quality.
Projects including the Conservation Resource Alliance Wild Roots program and the Friends of Grand Rapids Parks Urban Forest Project reduce air pollution and create a better atmosphere for future generations.
