Perseverance Leads to Contract Work for Clinton Township firm

The seventh time was the charm for Susan Bursteinowicz. The owner of a Clinton Township metal fabrication firm, Bursteinowicz attended seven Consumers Energy supplier summits before landing a contract with us to fabricate stands and racks for electric and gas meters.

“I never thought it would happen, but it finally did, and we’ve hit the ground running ever since,” Bursteinowicz said.Patience and determination has paid off for her business — Aaron’s Fabrication, which is family-owned, and Women Business Enterprise certified, with eight employees.

So much, in fact, that she landed additional purchase orders with us to fabricate gates that help protect our company’s hydroelectric dams and miscellaneous fabrication and machining needs.

Pure Michigan Business Connect program forges strong ties

Our relationship with Aaron’s Fabrication was forged through the state’s Pure Michigan Business Connect (PMBC) program). Brenda Ruffing, supplier diversity program manager has worked hard to find good contractor fits within Michigan’s borders.

“We are committed to helping the state of Michigan by contracting with businesses within the state,” said Ruffing. “It’s all about growing Michigan, because if Michigan grows we will all be successful.”

Bursteinowicz said Consumer Energy is committed to helping small businesses prosper throughout the state.

“Consumers Energy is such a class act for looking out for us little guys,” she said. “We hired several new employees and bought $100,000 in new equipment thanks to one of our contracts with Consumers Energy. And it’s 100 percent because of them that we were able to expand our operations and recently move into a new building in Clinton Township.”
