MI Clean Air: The Right Energy Solution for Your Sustainability Goals
Whether you subscribe to renewable natural gas from community dairy farms or buy carbon offsets that help protect forests in the Upper Peninsula, you can help make a difference. Taking part in this program supports carbon reduction projects right here in Michigan.
Renewable natural gas captures more greenhouse gases than it emits, meaning it has a negative carbon impact. Offsetting approximately 25% of your natural gas use could enable your business to achieve net zero emissions.
Pick the carbon offset and renewable natural gas mix that is right for your business. You can enroll in increments of 1 - 100% of your natural gas use based on your goals and budget. Contracts flex with your energy needs whether you move locations or shift your natural gas use.
Nothing is built on your property and there is no need for upgrades or gas system changes. Plus, your operations won't be impacted. We'll secure and retire environmental attributes on your behalf and your subscription fee will be included in your monthly energy bill.
How Renewable Gas is Created
Collect Gather organic waste from Michigan-based dairy farms and other sources. Then collect waste at a biodigester.
Capture Biodigester uses bacteria to break down organic solids and capture biogas (primarily methane). This prevents it from reaching the atmosphere.Consume The resulting RNG is injected into the natural gas system to heat and power homes and businesses.
Sustain By capturing more greenhouses gases than it emits, RNG created from animal manure is actually considered carbon-negative!
