PowerMIDrive™ Smart Charging Incentive

$10 Monthly Incentive for Smart Charging

Already have a level 2 charger installed at your home? Enjoy up to 2,500 miles* of free driving by earning $10 per month for up to 12 months per EV.

To enroll in the program you will need to:

  • Be a Consumers Energy residential electric customer
  • Own/lease or have an EV ordered or reserved that will be registered to the primary address associated with the Consumers Energy electric account
  • Charge your electric vehicle using a Residential Level 2 charger or 240-volt charging cable
  • Charge overnight on weekdays between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Charge any time during weekends

Program Details

As a Smart Charging Program participant, you’ll be enrolled in Consumers Energy’s Residential Time of Use Rate, specifically the Nighttime Savers (RPM_1050). This enrollment is a key part of the Smart Charging Incentive and will adjust your electric rate accordingly. But don’t worry, if you’re already enjoying the benefits of Residential Smart Hours (RSH_1040), there’s no need to switch rates.

We understand that sometimes, you might need to charge your electric vehicle (EV) urgently. For that reason our Smart Charging Incentive program allows you to charge up to three times per month beyond the essential requirements, without losing your monthly incentive.

We’re excited to announce that starting March 1st, 2024, we’re enhancing the Smart Charging Incentive program and will be transitioning from quarterly to monthly incentive payouts, making it faster and more convenient for you. Your incentive will now be directly credited to your Consumers Energy electric bill.

If you decide to change or close your Consumers Energy Electric account during your 12-month enrollment period, please let us know at powermidrive@consumersenergy.comPlease note, if the account is inactive during the credit payout period, the monthly incentive will not be processed, and your enrollment in the Smart Charging Incentive program will be discontinued.
