1. Choose Your Charging Speed

240-Volt Outlet

Want faster charging and a rebate? Choose 240 volt charging. A 240 volt charger adds about 20-30 miles per hour of charging. We recommend installing a NEMA 14-50 outlet, which is compatible with many home chargers like those approved for the PowerMIDrive rebates.

120-Volt Outlet

Adds 3-4 miles per hour of charging. Plug your vehicle’s charging cord into a normal household, three-prong, 120-volt outlet.

2. Explore Charger Rebates

PowerMIDrive Rebates Available

You can qualify for a rebate of up to $500 with an approved new Level 2 charger installation or a prior installation.

Want to Increase Your Charging Power?

Consumers Energy is offering a $500 rebate for customers installing a Residential Home UL-Certified, Energy Star rated Level 2 charger with up to 9.6 kW of output (Up to 50AMP circuit)

3. Install Your Charger

Please Note: There is a difference between a hardwired home charger installed by a professional and a plug-in home charger. Recommended chargers such as the NEMA 14-50 outlet allows for a Level 2 home charger to be taken with you if you move. All PowerMIDrive rebate eligible home chargers have both a hard-wired and plug-in option available to you.

Licensed Contractor

Consult a licensed electrical contractor to see what’s needed for your Level 2 charger installation. Your electrician or local city government can inform you of permits or other documents as required. Click here to find an electrician in your area.

Plug It In

Whether you selected a Level 2 charger or a Level 1 charger, move on to pick your electric rate below.

4. Pick Your Rate
